Rocking Electric Vehicles
Back in early November Mark Monahan, Executive Director of the Ottawa Bluesfest and the Ottawa Folk Festival, agreed to go for a test drive of an electric vehicle or EV with the Don Grant. Don is the Executive Director of the Ottawa Centre EcoDistrict.
After a great summer of promoting electric vehicle use, the EcoDistrict had a very successful EV Day on September 19th on Sparks Street with over 1,000 people visiting to talk to EV owners, test drive EVs with Plug n Drive, or get the chance to see a Tesla up close and personal. We also conducted a survey of EV users and found that 80 percent of respondents would consider an EV the next time that they planned on purchasing a vehicle.
We received important financial and logistical assistance from the World Wildlife Fund Canada which is working towards an overall goal of 600,000 EVs in use in Canada by 2020. We were also inspired by a great new campaign #EVFirstDates. In this campaign, former Toronto Mayor and current WWF-Canada President and CEO David Miller takes local celebrities on a ride in an EV to get their reaction. And guess what, they all love the test ride.
So we decided to experiment for ourselves and we invited Mark to participate in his first EV test drive in VRTUCAR’s Nissan LEAF. In addition to being a music aficionado, Mark also loves cars so he was a natural choice. Check out the video below to see how our test drive went.
