An estimated 4,000 individuals were reached in our effort to boost electric vehicle awareness throughout our downtown network and Ottawa. Plug’n Drive facilitated 50 test drives giving nearly 100 people direct exposure on the road in an EV. Models available to test-drive included the BMW i3 EXR, Ford C-MAX Energi, Mitsubishi i-MiEV and Chevrolet Volt.
EV owners – many from the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa (EVCO) – lined Sparks Street with their personal vehicles offering the chance to look under the hood of 30 cars of different models and ask real drivers what it’s like owning an EV in Ottawa. Several event sponsors also showcased their charging equipment and other methods of sustainable transportation.
A big thank you goes out to members of the EcoDistrict Network who came out the night before EV Day to talk about electric cars and meet the team from Plug’N Drive. Not only was it great to network and share ideas about EVs, but we also learned that fellow Champion Oxford Properties is planning an EV test drive for Constitution Square sometime in September where they already have 2 EV chargers installed for parking customers.
