The idea for the Ottawa Center EcoDistrict started when James McNeil and Katelyn Brunskill met with Rebecca Aird and said: “I think we have something for the 3i Summit”. That was back in May 2012 and was a part of a fantastic community-driven workshop that focused on how we could spread sustainability throughout Ottawa.

From that event, we found a great group of people who were willing to be a part of a steering committee and we met fairly regularly until we secured funding. The rest, as they say, is history.

Today we are a not-for-profit organization (OCED Inc.) with two paid staff members, a long list of active volunteers, and a growing number of community supporters.

We meet regularly and we have many ways to involve businesses, organizations, and individuals in our program.
